In sessions 1, 2 and 3, this workshop has explored just a few of the increasing number and range of different fields in which the language and ideas of information are playing an increasingly important role. But what is information, and is the ‘information’ that is discussed in the different fields the same thing? Why are so many disciplines using informational concepts in their narratives?

This session looks at these fundamental questions about the nature of information, exploring the philosophy of information and questioning whether there can ever be a Universal Theory of Information (UTI).
